The "Repairables" Collection.

We raised £1,140 to support young children's mental health in Primary Schools!

About

1 in 7 primary school age children have a mental health disorder.

February 2022 low self esteem in young children has increased by 86%

Depression 76%

Feelings of anger 68%

42% of primary schools state that children’s emotional and mental health is the biggest challenge they face.

“The Repairables” is a collection of 7, fun, quirky stories, that educate young children about feelings.

My first 3 stories have been published.

My first book is “Naughty Nick”

My second book is “Jess and Gerald the Green Eyed Monster”

My third book is “Adam and the Bear with the sore head”

The other stories to follow are:

  • “Judgemental Jack”

  • “Selfish Sam”

  • “Disastrous Daisy”

  • “Heartfelt Harriett and Headstrong Harry”

  • Totalling 7 stories under “The Repairables”.

In the future I hope to write others and add to the collection. My aim is to give children an increased awareness and understanding of difficult feelings and behaviours and how they can be overcome.

My Story

I have been a mum of 3, I am a Nursery Nurse and ran my own Day Nursery for 18 years. I went to Southampton University to retrain. I qualified as a counsellor and worked with those struggling with mental health and substance misuse issues. I also added to my qualification and studied bereavement. I worked for Cruse Counselling with bereaved clients.

I began working at Hope Housing supporting those who had been homeless and vulnerable. I also counselled in a local school for 5 years counselling children with learning and behaviour difficulties.

Lisa Everett author of "The Repairables"

My work at Hope Housing and counselling in the school inspired me to create “The Repairables”. Initially I would take the characters and their story into the counselling session. These characters and stories were a great resource for children who found it hard to express how they felt.

The children identified with my characters and then felt more relaxed to talk about how they felt.

“The Repairables” were greatly received.
